What is Hot Wax Encaustic painting?
Beeswax, tree resin, and pigment all melted together and you paint with it!
Why I use encaustic.
From my first encounter with encaustic painting, I was captivated by the wax's tactile and luminous qualities. Its unique scent and viscosity set it apart from other techniques. After working primarily with oil paints in art school, I found painting with wax both enjoyable and challenging. Mastering the technique allows an artist to develop a personal style. I create organic forms, often describing my work as "abstracted landscapes," which are interpretations shaped by memory rather than specific locations. The layering and translucency of the wax are crucial in conveying the essence of my pieces.
