As an artist, I am continually excited by the properties of color, light and shadow as they reflect the image and my own sense of time, place and inner harmony. Using thumbnail sketches, I lay out an idea with a very rough notion of the compositional elements. Once I’m satisfied that I have an idea worth pursuing, I begin the work.
I pay great attention to details in the composition and value elements in a given work as I breathe life into each piece. I mostly use the technique of textures with oils. This gives my paintings their very own style.
I am fascinated with both the visual elements and my own emotional needs as an artist. I must find harmony, color and form in each painting. Once completed, each piece must stand on its own.
